My father who is 55yrs old has been in the hospital for 2 weeks following a tramatic injury. He seems very confused at times and unsure of where he is and even who we are at times. He also seems very tired. He is getting alot of pain meds and the nurses and doctors are in and out of his room every 15 mins or so. also with family visiting I know he is suffering from lack of sleep. The doctors originally thought his confusion was due to the drugs he has been getting but now are saying they think it is traumatic onset alzheimer's disease. I was wondering if it could be the drugs and the lack of sleep instead.

I have had three sleep labs which showed I get zero deep sleep. I am 55 and use a c-pap machine which is properly calibrated. I have no problem falling or staying asleep.
I believe my seemingly constant dreaming, even when not in REM, is causing arousals which keep me from staying in level 3.

I am 16 years old and get on average 6 hours of sleep a night. In the morning I go into school early for various club meetings or for extra help in class, then a full day of classes, soccer practice, then play practice or choir practice or band, then hours upon hours of homework. I definitely stress about it all, but I can't imagine giving anything up. Lately, when I have the time to breathe, I have been feeling very depressed and end up crying. I was wondering if this saddness could be due to sleep deprivation.

Trying to find out what the day by day effects of sleep deprivation are. Such as what effects from 1 day of missed sleep through say 3 days of missed sleep. What effects can be seen progressed?

I only get sleepy around 2:00 p.m. (while at work). During this time I get sleepy at work, I have to eat or pinch myselft to try to stay awake. If I could only go to sleep then, it would only take me 30 seconds to fall asleep. I get in the bed around 9:00 riight after I take a sleeping pill and I am still awake for hours. Usually I fall asleep between 2:00 & 4:00 a.m. I have to get up at 6:30 to be at work at 8:00. I am so tired and frustrated with not being able to go to sleep. While it only takes about 5 minutes for my husband and three children to fall asleep. I can be dead tired, but still not be able to go to sleep. The only time I get any sleep is Sat. & Sun. mornings. Does anyone know anything that can help me? All seven of the perscription sleeping pills my doctor gave to me seemed to work the first week and then they would quit. Everyone seems to think they can tell me just to lay down and you will fall asleep. They have no idea how miserable this situation is. Not getting enough sleep makes me grouchy the next day and very sluggish; although, I seem to manage to do my work plus after work cook, clean, do laudry, bathe kids, help kids with their homework, and feed the pets (you would think after a days work and performing all of the above chores, it would be easy to go to sleep, but it is no). The past 48 hours, I have only had about 6 hours of sleep. I just literally want to cry.

My name is: CJ
I ADD and I have trouble getting to sleep because of my racing mind; therefore, I usually take melatonin and seroquel (1/4 25 ml) to help me get to sleep. I usually only feel naturally sleepy after 12 AM which is not a big deal to me any more, as I am retired. Once I am asleep, I sleep pretty soundly. The problem is that I really feel like I am not ready to rise until I have had 10-12 hours of sleep. I feel like I am really foggy and groggy for quite a while after I wake up. Once I take my Adderall, I feel awake and ready to go. Then the whole cycle repeats itself. Is this sleep pattern a result of my ADD or the meds?

I frequently wake up after about 3 or 4 hours and have difficulty falling back to sleep. Some people think that must be all I need, but I am extremely tired all day. Have alot on my mind and wish I could sleep more. The times I do get even close to 7 hours, I feel like a new person. What do I do to sleep all night?

does chronic sleep deprivation (such as due to noise, not merely insomnia) cause brain damage?
